The first thing you need to do is make sure that your server and clients have network cards and are configured properly. Next you need to share the drive on your server machine in which the BPA directory resides, which is usually the C drive.

After you have done that you will need to go to each client computer and map a drive letter to that shared drive on the server, we usually us the F drive letter for the network mapping but you can use any drive letter you want. We also recommend that you use the same drive letter on all the clients for the network drive mapping.

Once you have mapped a drive letter to the shared drive on the server you create a BPA directory on each of the client machine's C drives. Then you will need to copy a file from the server called copybpa.bat into the client's C drive's BPA directory. If you used F as the mapped network drive letter then you should just be able to run the batch file out of the clients BPA directory. Otherwise you will have to open it up in notepad and edit it so that the drive letters on each line in the file match your network mapped drive letter.

Example:
This is what the batch file looks like.

COPY F:\BPA\BPA.EXE
COPY F:\BPA\CONFIG.FPW
COPY F:\BPA\MYCOLOR.DBF
COPY F:\BPA\MYCOLOR.CDX
COPY F:\BPA\MYCOLOR.idx
COPY F:\BPA\BPA.ICO
COPY F:\BPA\VFP5*.dll
COPY F:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VFP5*.dll
COPY F:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\VFP5*.dll
COPY F:\BPA\NOPICT.BMP

If your mapped drive letter is J the you would change the F in the file to a J and make it look like this.

COPY J:\BPA\BPA.EXE
COPY J:\BPA\CONFIG.FPW
COPY J:\BPA\MYCOLOR.DBF
COPY J:\BPA\MYCOLOR.CDX
COPY J:\BPA\MYCOLOR.idx
COPY J:\BPA\BPA.ICO
COPY J:\BPA\VFP5*.dll
COPY J:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VFP5*.dll
COPY J:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\VFP5*.dll
COPY J:\BPA\NOPICT.BMP

And then run it out of the clients BPA directory.
It should copy all the files you need from the server to the client.

After the batch file has finished copying the files you will need to edit the config.fpw file with notepad and change the last two lines in the file to have the drive letters of the mapped network drive in them.

Example:

The last two lines look something like this.

DEFAULT=\BPA
PATH=\BPA

If your mapped network drive letter J then you would put a J: in front of the \BPA on both lines like this.

DEFAULT=J:\BPA
PATH=J:\BPA

Also if the last two lines initally are \VBPA you will need to change them to \BPA before you add the mapped network drive letters.

From this:

DEFAULT=\VBPA
PATH=\VBPA

To this:

DEFAULT=\BPA
PATH=\BPA

After you have changed the last two lines you will need to save your changes.

The only other thing you will need to do is create a shortcut to the bpa.exe file in you clients bpa directory. Do not create a shortcut to the bpa.exe on the server.

That should be it, if you have any other questions feel free to reply to this post or post a new thread in this forum.
