I'm helping Bath Creek Deli setup their system and have some questions.

I don't understand the difference between products and product types. 90% of the items sold is food. We have the Product Types as FOD for food, CLN for cleaning items, etc. Should the food be broken into different Product Types and if so why?

On one of the reports there was a break down of items sold such as desserts, other items, etc. Should their be a Product Type for each of those categories?

I'm sure you are suppose to be able to view the different items you sold in a summary if setup correctly. Our goal is to setup the system as intended. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
